Golden Rule Health insurance dose not cover anything

Golden Rule Health insurance does not cover any healthcare costs. They have a competitive premium and it is lower than most but they simply do not cover any medical costs. They make you pay for pretty much everything plus the premium. I am a doctor in Michigan and this is the worst health plan I have ever even imagined. They take the premium and then send all of the bills to you. They are misleading and I feel are a core problem facing America healthcare insurance. They take your money and then do not cover any costs that you have related to your healthcare. I tried to work with them but it is absolutely ridiculous and they are way out of line. We dropped them and we need to get the word out that golden rule is outrageous and unacceptable but continues to take people's money and then send them the bill for nearly all of their healthcare expenses. The patient testimonials on their website are complete and utter nonsense..... give me a break. Something needs to be done about this company, I am not sure what would be most effective but it is outrageous that they continue to market themselves as having a competitive healthcare insurance product. If you think they have a competitive product then you have no idea what they actually cover, wait until you have a medical problem then the bills will role in and they will keep taking your principal and they will not pay for the healthcare expenses. Golden Rule is a real problem because they appear and state that they will take care of healthcare costs by providing healthcare insurance and we assume that it is a reasonable product that would cover a reasonable percentage of healthcare costs. Golden Rule is an embarrassment to the insurance industry if that is even possible, the entire industry is very suspect but golden rule is leading the way with "bait and switch" tactics in general miss representation of providing security to desperate people who need healthcare insurance. Golden Rule is wildly unacceptable and I assure you anyone who has had any healthcare expenses has dropped them because of the terrible coverage they have. Read the fine print and even then I'm not sure it would help. Golden Rule Insurance will not cover your healthcare costs despite pain your principles. This is the worst healthcare insurance and is not worth 1 dollar a month.

Most private insurance policies, including Golden Rule have high deductibles you must meet before the insurance pays. It's important to review the plans before applying to avoid surprises like you had on the back end.

Golden Rule made a huge data entry error that's costing me $$$!

I received a letter from Golden Rule last April telling me that I was being rewarded for not meeting my 2,500 deductible the previous calendar year. Therefore, they had credited $500 to my 2011 deductible to "save me out-of-pocket expenses". I was excited until this week. They've been sending me regular explanation of benefits, the last of which confirmed that I'd met 2,457 of my 2,500 deductible with only $42.88 left! So when I went into my chiropractor this month I was wondering why I kept having to pay out-of-pocket. In fact, I've now paid MORE than my 2,500 deductible to due their massive computer entry error. They reported to my doctor and myself when I called customer service that I'd only met $1,957! I spoke to two different customer service representatives and was told I'd be contacted in 24 hours and have still not been contacted in two days time. Do the math, Golden Rule! 2,457 - $500 = 1,957! So in April, their "computer" deducted the $500 credit instead of crediting it to my deductible! This means I paid off my deductible months ago and have been continuing to pay out of pocket due to their error (and am now paying over the deductible amount). So not only did they not apply the $500 to my already paid off deductible, their computer system says that I owe this amount, which means they're attempting to screw me out of 1,000 and are not owning up to the error (no phone call-back in over 48 hours). If they do not fix this asap I'm taking them to small claims court. Hire people that know how to do computer data entry, Golden Rule! People that know that $500 credit meant plus, not minus (duh..). Customer service people are very passive and do nothing to help and they know nothing - they are just hired to answer the phones and ask what number you can receive a call back (a call that may never come). Now I have to put all of my appointments on hold until these jokers get their facts straight...what a headache! Just be aware that mistakes can happen with any insurance company and it's the customer that has to follow-through as everyone else is just concerned with getting paid. Look at all of your statements and ask questions....it concerns me that nobody caught this error until I brought it to their attention, and I'm the paying customer that should be recovering during physical therapy, not on the horn calling people telling them to do their job right.

Golden Rule Insurance

Buyer Beware!! Requested 3 quotes from 3 different companies, simultaneously. As a full time student, barely able to work, when I never heard from any of them I dropped it. With no warning Golden Rule deducted a premium from my bank acct. (which was required as a stipulation for the quote, but I swear I read there would be no charges unless they received my approval of their offer..made sure of that) The acct was one I dont use much and didnt expect any activity so didn't know the draft was made. When I realized and called them, (never received notice, offer, cards, nada.) they said the website stated if I didn't respond to their offer (which was never received anyway) in 20 days, that was proof of my acceptance of the policy. Story doesn't end there but I'm over the recommended 100 words so.... take heed!

Golden Rule premium went from $298 per month to $1338 with no notice???

Golden Rule is awful. They have the gall to run a $1338 premium this month with no notice to me after being at $298 for 2 years. I am going after them for fraud!!!! They are a joke!!!! I basically have paid for everything over the last 2 years and how do they justify increasing my premium???? If anyone knows how to get my money back please help. I am a small business owner trying to make ends meet and they are taking advantage of people who just want basic coverage. I cannot believe that the insurance company workers actually sleep at night.

I require an expert on this area to solve my problem. Maybe that is you! Taking a look forward to peer you.

I too have been reamed by Golden Rule Ins. Premium went up 53% overnight.

I live in Colorado where gender weighting for premium rates is now illegal greatly increasing premium costs for men. Obviously the insurance industry is going to make up losses somewhere

:( My Golden Rule premium went up by $70.00 per month. I've dropped them and switched to Anthem. I cannot see how Golden Rule will stay in business much longer - they are a joke!

GOLDEN RULE DENIES CLAIM...and forces me to find lawyer

Golden Rule refuses my claim forcing me to apply for workmens comp. It got denied by workmens comp and I had to appeal (to satisfy Golden Rule). I had moved out of state and did not have the money to go back for the appeal in court...so it got thrown out. Golden Rule will not pay the claim ....they think that poor people (and i paid out of pocket for the insurance because I had no insurance coverage and a *** job) have the time, money and leisure to pursue claims against workmens comp, take time off work and pay for things we cannot possibly pay for just to jump through their hoops so they can weasel out of paying the hosptial bills! Now I have to get a lawyer I cannot afford to simply make them do what they should do anyway...GOLDEN RULE ARE THIEVES

May they all go Bankrupt

I have been fiercly opposed to "govt healthcare" or "Obama Care" until I just got a letter from Golden Rule stating the premium for my kids is going from $220.00 a month to $420.00 a month. We have never gotten close to our deductible, no illness, premium more than covered use. I am sorry but with these kinda pricing practices, I hope something happens to Bankrupt them all they price fix on the cost side and back side of premiums. I give up these folks along with others have convinced themselves that greed is good. As much as I hate govt in my business because those guys spend $5 to make $1 and think it's good, but something has to stop this gauging somehow. 42 Billion in profits enough???? Never enough for these guys.

Golden Rule

Bingo! Everyone's comment about Golden Rule is what we have experienced. BEWARE! Very frustrating process. We are a very proactive, healthy, fit & active family & my husband was denied because he stopped following up on a mild case of colitis that subsided w/ diet change & didn't get a repeat of an expensive CT Scan that dr recommended only because dr couldn't find the results of a previous CT Scan that was performed just a few months prior that showed NOTHING!! Go figure! Yes...the repetitive questioning by nonprofessionals VERY frustrating also! Hold time with each telephone call was at least 10-15 minutes just to be transferred multiple times! Noone could every answer my question re: how to find a participating pharmacy and their on line tool did not allow pharmacy to be located as they suggested. Even the representative tried herself after informing me I could find it on line @***.com and she could not. Now, the adventure of cancelling & trying to get my money refunded. Sounds like it will be a task!

Beware of this company; they tell you preexisting conditions are covered and they are not for 2 years, get your cc info immediately to "hold your place in the pool". Can't get money back despite fraud in the inception by telling people they will be covered and will not be. Don't fall for the scam.

United Health-Golden Rule Denying Benefits

I have been diagnosed with stage four cancer and have no more than 12 months to live. Golden Rule is now trying to deny benefits because my policy is less than two years old. Actual words are that my policy is under review. Medical care is only to keep my life more comfortable, there is no cure and I will not go into remission. If benefits are denied, I will have to spend the little life I have left worrying about how to pay for the medical bills to date. I will not be able to get any additional care.

Golden Rule Health Insurance scam

We applied online for one price and then they called to get more information. After two weeks of questions, they then quoted a higher price due to me having a sinus infection last year from seasonal allergies and my wife getting occasional migraines.

We went ahead and had them send the policy so we could review it and they put in the policy riders to no cover anything we have ever been sick for in the past. We called them that day and denied the coverage. The agent on the phone understood and said it is not a problem. This occurred on September 13th.

Then they charged us for the insurance 2 days later. We have had multiple phone calls to them, each requiring long wait times to get assistance, and they keep jerking us around saying the refund check is "in the mail". There policy was to refund any charges if the coverage was not accepted within 5 - 10 business days. Well we denied the coverage before they even charged us and it has been a month and still no refund check.

They just keep telling us that they can stop payment on the check which will take 3 - 4 business days and then send another check which would take another 7 - 10 business days.

Golden Rule basically could care less that they charged us when they should not have and do not care if they are giving us our money back in a timely manner. I would stay away from this company at all costs.

Golden rule deny claims then drop their customer

I too was a victim of golden rule. file a dental claim and they would not pay when l inquired about why they didn`t pay they said preexiting conditions.when l inquired about a medical claim the company drop my policy. No company should be able to operate that treats their customer like this. There should be a class action lawsuit brought on this company. anyone who have been screwed by this company should post a posting on face book or e-mail me @lsowers52@***.com and lets go after them.Lets not let them get away with this highway robbery, let go after our congressman and force them to uphold our right that have been wronged.

Golen Rule Insurance, they take your money but no insurance

When you apply they take your money immediately, when they call you the interviewers are not health professionals so they are not knowledgeable and make it very frustrating.. They ask *** questions and although I am healthy, no body fat, jog, no junk food etc they turned me down because of "restless leg syndrome" occasional "reflux" which are about as life threatening as poison ivy. However they have had my money now for over 3 weeks and so far have not refunded it, almost 300 dollars. That is quite a scam. imagine how much money they are holding under false pretenses Beware,

The rest of the story; My 19yr old was smart enough to request the Physician to contact Golden rule to confirm coverage for the Ct Scan. after a 20min.

wait it was confirmed she was covered. The office than sent her into their parking lot to the Panhandle Radiology office for the test, the test of course was sent to a radiologist to be read. Neither of these places were in network. I called Golden Rule.

It seems I the insured was suppose to inform this Doctor(who is in the network) to send her to a network Radiologist for testing. Also unfortunately this happens a lot.

Now they are suing a 19yrs old college student for what I think a Network Doctors office knew would not be covered. But remember she asked them to call and make sure she was covered.

I had Golden Rule health insurance for my wife and daughter. Daughter is a college student.

We found a doctor in the group plan. She had severe headaches, the doctor had CT Scan done and sent the findings of the CT Scan out to another doctor outside the group coverage. Now we have to pay over $2000.00. Golden Rule says it is our fault because we didn't check to see that our doctor sent it to a doctor in our group.

I really think the group doctor should pay for their mistake.

I canceled them as our insurance company. Now I'm with BC&BS.

the interviewers are trained to read questions to you-- so they dont have know anything else - they are thrown in the middle - they are not allowed to ask any qusetions other than what is already typed out -if they dont then they are not considered to be productive and its counts against them in thir performane --also know that the interviewers are reading from a set of predefined and written out questions and they have to read them verbatim -the questions might seem *** by they are designed to seem to ask the same question 3 different ways - and are designed that way by an underwriter to try to "find" or "uncover" things in what you say in order to deny, exclude, or raise your premium-- so dont be mad at the interviewers, they are more than likely outsourced and have no idea anyways

Golden Rule Insurance Ripp Off

My daughter needed short term month to month insurance coverage. There was no mention of medical or dental wait times of coverage. After a couple of months with Golden Rule, she had to an impacted wisdom tooth that had to be extracted. Now they say we had a twelve month wait period that was never mentioned. I called the new accounts department to inquire of a new service, and only when I specifically asked about having this procedure, and if there was a wait time, was I told that there would be a 12 month wait time, otherwise this information is not shared. Now we owe just under $600.00. I would avoid them at all costs.

Took my money at time of application and said it would take a week for them to notify me of acceptance/denial of coverage. Current COBRA coverage went up and preminum would be due at the same time Golden Rule would be covering me (if accepted.) Never got a call from them letting me know out come of my application - spent over 50 minutes of my cell phone minutes on HOLD with Golden Rule only to find out they denied my application for something ***.

Can't continue paying my current COBRA coverage because GOLDEN RULE STILL HAS MY MONEY making me short on my COBRA premium. Now I'm screwed!

Your first mistake was being born because you obviously have no common sense. When you make a payment, you should either make it with a credit card or check and NEVER a money order-this is your first mistake.

Second, YOU are responsible for your payment getting to its destination, not the folks on the other end. If you want to make sure a payment is received, then either send it delivery confirmation or signature confirmation with the Post Office.

Your third mistake, you big fat dummy, is not making the payment over the phone with a representative if your payments keep disappearing. The very definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

You're welcome.

Golden Rule Screws its agents

Since Mass Mutuals arm to other companies ( Mmillia) broke ties with Golden Rule they cancelled all the agents contracts that brokered business through them. They gave the agent 2 weeks to send info into licensing which I complied and have docs to prove they received the paperwork..once on April 22,then the day they called me on May 5 saying they never received the paperwork, again. This company which is part of "United Health Care" runs their business similar to the SEC. WE will prevail as class action attorneys are ready to go on this discrimination suit.Golden Rule is the reason that health insurance gets a bad name wheras most of the others are fair and reputable.

Golden Rule insurance fabricates client information

I was denied coverage by Golden Rule Insurance on the basis of a kidney disorder I've never had. When I informed the customer service employee at Golden Rule that I've never had any kidney condition of any kind, he said, "Erm...it was in the medical records." I've never been to any doctor regarding my kidneys, and I've never had any kidney-related medical problems ever in my life, so I'm hard pressed to think of ways that a kidney disorder could've gotten into my medical records. I can't believe a health insurance company like Golden Rule would sink so low as to fabricate false medical information about its applicants! And to make matters worse, Golden Rule Health Insurance gladly took the first month's payment for the medical coverage I didn't receive due to my fabricated medical condition. Stay far away from Golden Rule Insurance, everyone. They're a VERY dishonest company.
