Update. July 12th 2017.
I have now paid another premium. It is still not cancelled. The bank (Bank of America) can't cancel it. I have even threatened to close my account.
I called again, 51 minutes this time and a lady called Susan, said sorry, she could see where the calls where made to cancel and could not understand why it was not cancelled. She said she will look into it and I will be refunded why I am due. In the mean time, my bank account is close to zero because of this, I am not a millionaire, I have kids to feed and a mortgage to pay.
I do not have time to keep calling and calling and calling. Its hard to believe that I am the customer, I never submitted a claim and they treat me like this.

Short term are a good not great plan for those that need some form of insurance and they are affordable in most cases.Your are correct that major medical would be great but,in most cases it would cost about half of many working people monthly salaries. We live in an entirely different world,employers are not picking up the tab and most people do not make enough to cover a major premium.
